چکیده

Existing depth-based approaches to predicting anthropometric measurements, such as body height, arm span and hip circumference, either directly compute the measurements on 3D point clouds, and thus are sensitive to noise, or fit a model to the observed depth values, which typically is time-consuming. In this paper, we rely on the intuition that, to predict a specific anthropometric measurement, one does not need to have detailed information about the entire body shape. We therefore introduce an approach to anthropometry based on a random regression forest trained from local depth cues. The local predictions are then accumulated into one global, image-level anthropometric measurement prediction. We introduce a forest refinement scheme, whose objective function directly relies on both the imagelevel prediction, as well as on the local predictions’ reliability. The resulting approach has the advantage of being both computationally highly efficient and accurate.

Estimation of Source Location Using Curvature Analysis

A quadratic surface can be fitted to potential-field data within 3×3 windows, which allow us to calculate curvature attributes from its coefficients. Phillips (2007) derived an equation depending on the most negative curvature to obtain the depth and structural index of isolated sources from peak values of special functions. They divided the special functions into two categories: Model-specific...

An algorithm for the anchor points of the PPS of the CCR model

Anchor DMUs are a new class in the general classification of Decision Making Units (DMUs) in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). An anchor DMU in DEA is an extreme-efficient DMU that defines the transition from the efficient frontier to the free-disposability part of the boundary of the Production Possibility Set (PPS). In this paper, the anchor points of the PPS of the CCR model are investigated....

Hand Segmentation from Depth Image using Anthropometric Approach in Natural Interface Development

Hand gestures are often used as natural interface between human and robot. To acquire hand gesture from a captured image, hand segmentation procedure is performed. In this manuscript, a method for hand image segmentation from depth image is proposed. This method uses image thresholding technique to obtain human image part from a depth image. The threshold level is obtained by analyzing human po...

Prediction of fat-free body mass from bioelectrical impedance and anthropometry among 3-year-old children using DXA

For 3-year-old children suitable methods to estimate body composition are sparse. We aimed to develop predictive equations for estimating fat-free mass (FFM) from bioelectrical impedance (BIA) and anthropometry using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) as reference method using data from 99 healthy 3-year-old Danish children. Predictive equations were derived from two multiple linear regress...

Camera Arrangement in Visual 3D Systems using Iso-disparity Model to Enhance Depth Estimation Accuracy

In this paper we address the problem of automatic arrangement of cameras in a 3D system to enhance the performance of depth acquisition procedure. Lacking ground truth or a priori information, a measure of uncertainty is required to assess the quality of reconstruction. The mathematical model of iso-disparity surfaces provides an efficient way to estimate the depth estimation uncertainty which ...
